Accenture to Acquire Jixie's Intelligent Digital Marketing Platform and Business

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has agreed to acquire the business of media and marketing technology company, Jixie. Jixie’s intelligent digital marketing platform and team will be integrated into Accenture to strengthen its marketing transformation capabilities and resources through Accenture Song—the firm’s tech-powered creative group—helping Indonesian clients deliver more personalized experiences to enhance customer engagement for sustainable business growth.

Headquartered in Singapore with a focus on servicing clients in Indonesia, Jixie offers a comprehensive suite of monetization and marketing growth tools. Its platform is a robust advertising ecosystem that connects publishers and brand owners with the ability to co-create solutions through reliable customer insights. This transforms marketing from a fragmented process with limited control into a strategic priority, amplifying simplicity while safeguarding brand safety, consumer data and privacy.

The integration of Jixie’s platform into Accenture Song’s marketing capabilities will help clients optimize customer data effectively and efficiently into actionable insights, regaining the control, speed and trust needed to securely capitalize on Indonesia’s fast-growing digital economy that’s projected to reach US$146 billion by 2025 before growing eightfold by 2030.

Calls for Collaboration and Investment in Sustainable Water Management

In the framework of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) and the Jakarta Foreign Correspondents Club (JFCC) jointly organized a panel discussion titled "Road to the 10th World Water Forum: Policy, Technology, and Investment Opportunity in Water Resources Management" on (04/07).

During his opening speech, Special Advisor to the Minister of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia on Technology, Industry & the Environment Endra Saleh Atmawidjaja said, "It is an honor for Indonesia to host the 10th World Water Forum and to be a leader in assessing global water issues. We aim to promote peace, independence and prosperity in terms of the availability of water resources."

Chairman of APINDO Shinta Kamdani explained, "There are three conditions in establishing a good public-private partnership in sustainable water financing, namely the trust between the government and the private sector, the win-win partnership model and the sustainability of the partnership." She also mentioned that with the government's policies and incentives, private sector can play a more significant role in establishing green financing which considers social and environmental impacts of economic activities.

As a closing statement, Yoon-jin Kim highlighted the importance of the upcoming forum to assess the practical strategies and solutions to global water challenges.

Hyundai Mobis breaks ground in Indonesia

Hyundai Mobis (KRX 012330) began construction of a new EV dedicated battery system plant in Indonesia, which it plans to have completed by the first half of next year. Hyundai Mobis intends to set Indonesia as a beachhead as the country is emerging as the heart of the ASEAN market, and catapult to being a leader of the electrification ecosystem, which include cells, battery systems, and OEMs.

Hyundai Mobis announced that it had held a groundbreaking ceremony for the battery system plant in Bekasi, West Java (Jawa Barat) on the outskirts of Jakarta on 31. The ceremony was attended by about 150 participants, including Mochamad Ridwan Kamil, Governor of West Java Province, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Lee Sang-deok, Oh Heung-sub, Senior Vice President of Electrification at Hyundai Mobis, Indonesian Government officials, industry leaders, and local journalists.

The battery system plant in Indonesia will become a solid footing for Hyundai Mobis' global electrification business targeting the ASEAN market in particular. Building on the country's ample natural resources, the Indonesian government is accelerating efforts to secure leadership in the EV market. The need for EVs in ASEAN region, centered on Indonesia, is also increasing rapidly.

Hyundai Mobis will use battery cells supplied by a joint battery cell venture, HLI Green Power, and will turn them into modules that include a controller and a heat controller. They will then be supplied to global automakers as large battery systems. That is, Hyundai Mobis will play a role of an intermediary and complete the EV ecosystem.

Hyundai Mobis' plant in Indonesia will be located in Deltamas industrial complex, about 60 km southeast of the capital city of Jakarta. It is 3km from Hyundai Motor Company's plant in Indonesia and 10km from HLI Green Power, which will maximize the delivery efficiency of the battery system.

For the plant, Hyundai Motor Group has invested a total of USD 60 million (KRW 80 billion) on a land area of approximately 33,000㎡. The battery systems will be supplied first to flagship EV models slated to be released in Southeast Asia next year.

The Indonesian Government was reportedly highly supportive with administrative matters necessary for the construction of the plant, which was in line with their policy to strengthen the local EV market and the ecosystem. They provided enthusiastic support on various fronts not only in the construction approval process, but also in the environmental assessment, logistics costs, and tax benefits.

Oh Heung-sub, Senior Vice President of Electrification at Hyundai Mobis, thanked the Indonesian Government for their generous support in his congratulatory remarks saying, "Hyundai Mobis will become a partner for Indonesia and will play a pivotal role in establishing the EV ecosystem."

Hyundai Mobis holds half of the stake (Hyundai Mobis 25%, Hyundai Motors 15%, Kia 10%) in Hyundai Motor Group's total investment in HLI Green Power, a joint battery cell venture currently being built near the company's local plant. With the rise of the ASEAN market, Hyundai Mobis seeks to expand and develop the Indonesian plant into a long-term strategic base capable of accommodating major customers worldwide.

Hyundai Mobis is currently producing EV components, including battery systems, not just in Korea, but also in Europe (Czech Republic, Slovakia). In October last year, the company announced a plan to invest USD 1.3 billion by 2030 in a bid to expand the electrification production base in North America. Today, Hyundai Mobis is constructing a total of five additional electrification component plants in Alabama and Georgia, USA.

This will complete the electrification value chain that links major continents stretching from Asia (Korea and Indonesia), and Europe, to North America. This is also expected to reinforce Hyundai Mobis' capability to respond to the EV market.

With the "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth" chairmanship theme, Indonesia directed ASEAN cooperation in 2023 to continue strengthening the bloc's relevance to new challenges.

To ensure the summit's success, the authority is revving up its preparation to welcome ASEAN Summit delegates and participants in all aspects, particularly security, accommodations, and media support.

To secure the summit, National Police Chief General ListyoSigit Prabowo said a command center had been set up to monitor and supervise all activities related to the event. Communication devices of all officers would be connected to the command center, and they will also report to the center. The command center is also expected to monitor disaster potential to ensure prompt mitigation measures.

The National Police also ready eight security task forces to participate in the joint military-police Operation Komodo 2023 to secure the ASEAN Summit. The team partook in the tactical floor game (TFG) on Thursday (May 4) to ensure their readiness for the summit.

Meanwhile, Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G Plate said that Meruorah Hotel, Ayana Resort Hotel, and Bintang Flores Hotel had been designated as the 42nd ASEAN Summit's central locations.

The Ayana Resort Hotel would be the venue for the welcoming dinner and retreat session for state leaders of ASEAN countries during the summit, and the hotel management has readied all aspects. In addition, Meruorah Hotel is determined to promote local products by serving them exclusively in the delegates' rooms.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said that some 1,500 rooms are still available in 38 hotels, ranging from three- to five-star hotels, for participants of the ASEAN Summit. The local authority also prepared several ships for extra accommodation during the event.

Moreover, to facilitate the delegates and other participants, particularly the media, Indonesia ensured that the digital infrastructure and public communication network for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo would be adequate.

"[The summit] is also supported by adequate digital telecommunication technology and infrastructure such as optical fiber, 4G network, or experience of using 5G network," Minister Plate said after visiting the media center for the ASEAN summit. Similar public communication service facilities with the same standards as G20 Summit last year are prepared for the media.

The ministry also prepared Bintang Flores Hotel as the media center that can accommodate up to 340 people during the ASEAN Summit, which preparations are expected to complete this week. The hotel will be equipped with adequate facilities for journalists.

At least 319 journalists from national media, official media, and foreign correspondents were verified last Tuesday to cover the ASEAN Summit.

Additionally, ten top local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will showcase their products during the 42nd ASEAN Summit at Meruorah Hotel, Labuan Bajo, on May 9-11.

The 10 MSMEs will showcase their finest handicraft items, including woven fabrics, clothing, and other accessories. In addition to artworks, they will serve various typical foods and beverages of West Manggarai.

Indonesia hopes that all activities will run successfully.
